Blue Alvarez Designs is myself, Jen Paulousky.

All textile creations on this site are either my original designs or a re-design/re-purposing of vintage goods.

What

Currently I design knitwear and clothing for all sexes. Music is an ever-present influence, and I like to link to whomever I'm currently listening to.

Where

Blue Alvarez Designs is now located in Boston, MA. The best way to contact me is via email. My clothing is currently available at my online store, and on Etsy. Knitting patterns are on my DIY page, and are also distributed by Circles in Roslindale, MA.

When

The Blue Alvarez Designs website has been up and running since September 2004. Blue Alvarez Designs became a registered business in the Commonwealth of Massachusettes on 5/8/06.

Why

Well, why not? I believe good design can be both accessible and affordable. My goal is to encourage people to seek both beauty and utility in their everyday objects.

How

Materials and Construction:
All my pieces are handmade. I list whatever yarn I used and its fiber content on the site or in the pattern. I endeavor to do this for fabrics as well, but that is more approximate, as not all fabrics I work with have content listings. As such, vintage items are also approximations.

Sizing:
Most of the pieces on the site are one of a kind, and the size will be stated as XS-S-M-L-XL. The measurements for these sizes are approximated below:

X-Small: 32-33" bust, 25-26" waist, 36-37"" hips
Small: 34-35" bust, 27-28" waist, 38-39" hips
Medium: 36-38" bust, 29-30" waist, 40-41" hips
Large: 39-41" bust, 31-32" waist, 42-43" hips
X-Large: 42-44" bust, 33-34" waist, 44-46" hips.

If you see a piece you adore and would like one made to your size, please contact me with your bust, waist, and hip measurements (and length if applicable), and I will quote you a price on making any piece custom to your order.

Also for knit items, I offer knitting patterns, so that you can make many of the designs to fit you perfectly.

Please note that vintage, used, and re-worked pieces are one-of-a-kind and cannot be re-sized.

Ordering and Payment:

I accept credit cards through Paypal using Mal's E-Commerce shopping cart. You do not need a Paypal account to purchase through the shopping cart. Upon checkout, you will automatically be given the option to pay directly with your credit card.

When you purchase directly through the website, no one at Blue Alvarez Designs or Mal's E Commerce will ever have access to your credit card information. Any additional personal information given at checkout will never knowingly be released to a third party. That goes double for your email supplied when signing up for the mailing list.

Should you wish to pay without a credit card, I also accept money orders and personal checks. To order an item this way, simply email me with the details of the item you would like reserved, and I will arrange for shipping as soon as payment is received.

I am also open to bartering and wholesale. If you have an online or brick-and-mortar shop of your own and would like to trade in kind or carry my creations, just drop me a line.

Shipping:

Shipping via USPS priority mail is free to the US and Canada. Expedited shipping and international shipping are extra. Choose 'Next Day Air' or 'International' at checkout.

Return Policy:

All items purchased from Blue Alvarez Designs are eligible for a full refund of the original cost if the return is postmarked within 30 days of receipt. Any item purchased between November 15th and December 24th is eligible for return until January 30th of the following year.

Items must be returned in their original condition. Made-to-order items (including handknits and special order sizes) are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
